Congratulations................
To the Under 9's and 15's
The Under 9's completed the second part of their League and Cup Double at the weekend. A large crowd watched on as the Under 9's snatched a 1-0 win in their final league game of the season which secured the title and indeed a second league title of the season for the club.
A big well done to Steve Loader and Trevor with the Under 15's who completed a final day win (5-3) to clinch their league title again watched by a bumper crowd at Coopers Hill Lane. Its fantastic that John Evans and Pete Atkins then completed a double this weekend with the Under 9's. Chris Pate and the Under 12's will also be present at the League presentation collecting their runners up awards after an excellent season.
Well done to all our teams as another season comes to a close......... Leaving just one question; Who will win the awards at the Clubs presentation evening??
Congratulations to the Under 9's............
The under 9's today completed what we hope will be the 1st part of a terrific Double winning season.
After a thrilling 2-2 draw at the end of normal time in their game vs Corinthian Casuals and with the game heading to penalties Manorcroft scored on the counter attack to take the spoils.
In what was an even contest Manorcroft took the lead through Alfie Pate, a wonderful strike with his less favoured left foot across the goalkeeper into the far corner mid way through the first half. Corinthian Casuals quickly rallied and a good strike from the angle was deflected past the goalkeeper to level the scores which was how the 1st half would end.
The second half proved to be as close as the first and it was Casuals who this time went ahead, in what was to be a replay of events in the first half the equaliser was quick in coming with Manocroft's Alfie Pate once again on hand, Alfie stayed cool under pressure as he steared the ball low through the crowd of players and beyond the recovering goalkeeper to make the score 2-2.
The 1st half of Extra Time was again very end to end and both teams defended with real determination with heroics from many of the individuals on both sides helping to keep the scores level at the turn around. With a few minutes remaining Luca Howard-Cartwright broke beyond the Casuals defence and unleashed one of his now trademark rockets into the roof of the net to set the score at 3-2 to Manorcroft with just minutes remaining.
At the turnaround Jack Redman had replaced the excellent Joel Marsh-King in goal and with virtually the last kick off the game from the edge of the Manorcroft penalty area Jack made a fantastic tip onto the bar after a very well struck free kick had looked destined to even the scores.
Well done to both teams for an excellent game played in good spirits but a special well done must go to John Evans & Pete Atkins who have guided this fantastic group of players and parents to this terrific win.
A proud day for EVERYONE involved with our club.....
